Abstract
IN THE PROPOSED RESEARCH WE WILL BE DETERMINING THE BIT ERROR RATE FOR 64K AND 256K DRAM AS A FUNCTION OF ALPHA PARTICLE RADIATION DOSE. THREE PARAMETERS WILL BE VARIED: THE DEVICE (CHIPS FROM DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS WILL BE CHOSEN), THE BOMBARDING PARTICLE ENERGY, AND THE BEAM CURRENT. THIS INFORMATION SHOULD ALLOW AN ACCURATE EVALUATION OF THE NUMBER OF SOFT FAILS DUE TO ALPHA PARTICLES FROM TERRESTRIAL RADIOACTIVITY.
