Abstract
The Analog/Video Communications Link can be used by fielded soldiers for data/voice transfer to fellow soldiers or as a link for gathering data from remotely located sensors. Phase I of this effort produced a preliminary hardware design for two CardTransceiver (CXCVR) versions, one with a PCI interface and the other with a PCMCIA interface, a Sensor Transceiver (SXCVR), and a base station computer. The CXCVR and SXCVR incorporate a robust design for LPI/LPD based on Scientific Research Corporation'sWavelet Packet Modulation Technique and advanced audio/video compression technology. The units are envisioned as networked devices, capable of passing-through data from device to device; thus the same modulation technique is recommended for both theline-of-sight and over-the-horizon cases. Operational prototypes of these components will be developed, built, tested, and assessed in a realistic scenario (such as soldier-to-soldier communications) in Phase II.
