Abstract
Phase I will study the feasibility of developing material processes for the construction of Gamma-Ray optical components including reflecting coatings, narrow band filters, focusing systems for guiding, collimating, focusing Gamma-Rays. The approach to the design is the use of multilayer structures of alternating high/low dielectric susceptibility materials. Applications of Gamma-Ray Optics are in astrophysics, military, microelectronics explosives and narcotics interdiction, medicine. Gamma-Ray lenses will improve the design and resolution of Gamma-Ray imaging spectroscopes for exploration of solar flares. Gamma-Ray reflective coatings may be used in radiation hardening of electro-optical components, detectors, microelectronics, baffles, filters, FPA, in Gamma environment. Lenses will improve instruments in medicine reducing dose to patient.
