Abstract

The ability to disable a human target without doing permanent harm is an increasingly important component in current and future war fighting and law enforcement. The ability to use a weapon which has no physical contact with the target, such as wires or chemicals, has been unavailable - until now. Xtreme Alternative Defense Systems (XADS) proposes to develop a family of prototype systems in Phase 2, stemming from our research during SBIR Phase 1. The systems we propose are called "StunStrike". StunStrike is based on a highly modified "Tesla coil" with the capability of accurately and directionally emitting a spark tuned to a frequency which will tetanize and stun human voluntary muscle tissue. The technology allows us to build smaller, shorter ranged systems which are man-portable, as well as larger, fixed position systems with longer range. This technology is somewhat proven, and can be brought to market very soon. The spark length (range) of each variant is as follows: - the Close Quarters Shock Rifle (CQSR) is man-portable and has a 5-6 foot range - the Short Range StunStrike (SRSS) is vehicle or trailer mounted and has a 20 foot range - the Medium Range StunStrike (MRSS) is trailer or fixed-position mounted and will have a range around 45 feet.
