AbstractWe will apply thoracic electric bioimpedance monitoring by external electrodes (TEB) to those patieunstable on hemodialysis and find a primary cardiovascular parameter which predicts the onset of symOur expectation is that percent fall in cardiac output will be the primary indicator, but we will alcardiovascular parameters, machine-generated ultrafiltration data, and SO2 and hematocrit (by Crit-Lthat there are no better predictors of symptomatic hypotension. We will define a "stop-UF" algorithmultrafiltration rate before symptomatic hypotension and clinically test this in Phase II. Also in Phclinically test a "dry weight" algorithm which monitors cardiovascular parameters and receives usersymptoms and clinical findings to automatically determine dry weight of all hemodialysis patients.
