Rapid Isolation of DNA Aptamers (RIDA)

AbstractDNA aptamers are promising highly-specific, environmentally-stable threat-detecting molecules. Unfortunately, the current method for generating these materials yields a product frought with a high concentration of ballast aptamers. A laborious, yet automated process is required to isolate the desired molecules, thereby precluding their widespread use. Infoscitex (IST) is developing a rapid aptamer production process to make selection of high affinity and selective aptamers after only one round. The ongoing Phase I program has demonstrated the approach to be rapid, scalable, and economical. The Phase II program is proposed to bring this technology to maturity and transfer to end users in the US DOD and civilian industries. The commercialization effort has been started in Phase I and will continue during the Phase II and Phase III of the program.
