Abstract
THIS PROJECT SEEKS TO DEVELOP A BIOREGENERATING SYSTEM CONSISTING OF AN ADSORBENT, SELECTED MICROORGANISMS, AND A COMMON HOUSE PLANT. THIS SYSTEM WILL BE CAPABLE OF EFFICIENTLY REMOVING A VARIETY OF COMMON ORGANIC VOLATILE COMPOUNDS COMMONLY ENCOUNTERED IN THE INDOOR ENVIRONMENT. PROPOSED STUDIES WILL EVALUATE AND COMPARE BOTH NATURAL AND SYNTHETICADSORBENTS, VARIOUS MICROORGANISMS, AND VARIOUS DESIGNS OF BIOREGENERATING SYSTEMS FOR THEIR ABILITY TO SUCCESSFULLY REMOVE VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS FROM THE AIR OVER EXTENDEDPERIODS OF TIME.
