Abstract

Three tiered Thermal Bus System isothermalizes the satellite, allowing payload components to be mated in arbitrary locations without requiring detailed thermal analysis. The first tier is pyrolytic graphite embedded in aluminum panels (kCore) to provide local spreading. The second tier consists of embedded heat pipes to isothermalize each panel. These heat pipes also interface with third tier which consists of loop heat pipes to provide interpanel isothermalizing and transport heat to deployable radiator. Heat transport in this sytem is passive, with active thermal control. BENEFIT: The proposed system meets the objectives of the solicitation, and is applicable to any spacecraft bus.
