Abstract
A low cost, low noise, narrow linewidth, high power laser is proposed using semiconductor laser and scalable manufacturing technologies. The underlying technology is an external cavity laser leveraging existing materials and processes developed for the telecommunication industry. The target application is for fiber optic sensors for detection of signal in the sub-MHz and sub-kHz frequency range. A primary example of such sensors are fiber-optic acoustic hyrdrophones.
