Abstract

Medical robotic applications require numerous actuation devices that must be both lightweight and efficient. In the case of mobile medical robotics, Space, Weight, and Power efficiency (SWaP) are the key performance attributes for most designs. The objective of this proposal is to design and prototype a scalable high performance motor and actuator family based upon technology called Parallel Magnetic Circuit (PMC).
