Abstract

The US Military seeks innovative means to analyze and forecast the health landscape of an area of interest. This knowledge is critical to support non-kinetic operations including Stabilization, Security, Transition, and Reconstruction Operations (SSTRO) and Humanitarian Aid/Disaster Relief Operations."Apps for Rapid Epidemiological Analysis"(AREA) system development enables commercially available smart mobile devices to be integrated into the Military Health System as a cost effective health data gathering and analysis component, ready for deployment to many areas of the world. AREA would assist military personnel to rapidly survey the health status and risks of an area, perform local data analysis with chronological and geospatial dimensions, report forecast scenarios and course-of-actions, and collaboratively make field decisions with minimum delay.
