Research Institution
Wet clothing and footwear creates discomfort and can impede performance and morale for DoD personnel. During the Phase I research period a portable, reusable, light and efficient method to accelerate the moisture removal from difficult to dry pieces of clothing such as combat boots will be developed. The drying device is based on a nanocomposite paper that absorbs and transports water from the interior of a wet boot to an area outside the boot where drying is accelerated. The paper is antimicrobial and can be rapidly regenerated after use.
