Abstract

A comprehensive approach is proposed to develop a tool for guiding and automating mesh refinement for complex CFD targets and simulations. In the proposed Phase I effort, HyPerComp, Inc., will develop and demonstrate capabilities for performing geometry and CFD-based mesh refinement for Euler simulations. The automated methods will be developed quickly within our in-house CAD2Mesh grid generator and HYCE CFD simulation environment. This will allow us to run many cases to investigate optimal mesh refinement strategies that will then be incorporated into a mesh refinement guidance tool.
