AbstractThe purpose of this multi-phase program is to develop an autonomous system that is capable of aligning probes for eddy current inspections on steam condensers. The system aligns the eddy current inspection probe over the appropriate condenser tube based on a provided positional information and visually signals the operator to continue with inspection following a prior obstruction detection check. The design of Wolf Technical Services"Multi-Axis Autonomous Probe Manipulator (MAAPM) accomplishes these objectives while focusing on ease and safety in both operation and installation. The separable subsystems allow for compact storage and manageability as the device is setup within the confined space work area. Wolf"s design approach allows one system to be used on a wide range of condenser sizes without need for modification.
