Abstract

We propose a Phase I analysis of Signals of Opportunity (SOO), including Magnetic Velocity and Position (MVP) sensing, breakthrough passive geo-referenced navigation technology. MVP leverages classical electromagnetics to determine velocity and position with GPS-level accuracy at any depth or distance from shore. In addition to the SOO analysis, Phase I effort will conduct 3D electromagnetic modelling of MVP to predict precision for various configurations. During the option period, we will generate a design specification and development plan for an MVP-based sensing system (MSS) which will be included in the Phase I report along with the analysis of SOO, their relative advantages and disadvantages, and a set of assessment metrics for MSS evaluation during Phase II development and testing.
