Abstract

Q-Peak, Inc. in collaboration with CREOL proposes to develop a novel concept of long-wave IR (LWIR) femtosecond laser system. Current laser systems suffer from complexity due to the use of multiple nonlinear stages to achieve the desired wavelength and have issues with power scaling. The proposed system will consist of 2.5 um femtosecond regenerative amplifier system pumping a single OPA stage based on nonlinear crystal. The system will serve as a simpler, cheaper and more robust source of femtosecond radiation at center wavelength between 8-12 micron, pulse widths<300 fs, pulse energies at least 10 uJ at 1 kHz pulse repetition rate.
