AbstractWe propose to use the principles of projective geometry and image feature extraction, tracking, and matching techniques to construct accurate, detailed three dimensional models from imagery taken with a freely moving airborne or camera. We also propose to develop methods of detecting and segmenting moving objects in complex scenes using an adaptation of existing projective geometry techniques. Camera position and orientation information will be integrated in the reconstruction to provide metric scale, and camera position and orientation can be refined from feature correspondences identified using approximate camera locations and algorithms previously developed at Acuity. Commercially available software will be used for model viewing and 3D interaction in Phase I.
