Abstract
Not Available Three vibration reduction concepts are proposed to address current and future needs for more efficient vibration control techniques. More cost-effective solutions are required to enable active material technologies to benefit the performance of ballistic missile systems. Both active and passive techniques are considered, applying piezoelectric, magnetostrictive, and shape memory alloy materials. An experimental investigation of three potential systems will be used in the design of the experimental demonstrations. Emphasis is placed on the complete electromechanical system design, including power, mass, and cost considerations. Realistic applications will be used to direct the design of the experiments. Results from the analyses and experiments will be used to downselect to a single concept for further study
