Abstract
AN INTEGRATED SOFTWARE PACKAGE WILL BE DEVELOPED TO PREDICT THE ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF POLYMERS USED AS MATRIX RESINS IN AEROSPACE COMPOSITES. THE SOFTWARE IS BUILT UPON A NONLINEAR VISCOELASTIC CONSTITUTIVE EQUATION THAT ACKNOWLEDGES THE FUNDAMENTAL DEFORMATION PROCESSES. THE CONSTITUTIVE EQUATION PREDICTS THE COMPLETE STRESS-STRAIN BEHAVIOR INCLUDING YIELD FOR GLASSY POLYMERS IN ARBITRARY TIME-DEPENDENT THREE-DIMENSIONAL DEFORMATION FIELDS. THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT WILL BE TO DEVELOP EFFICIENT, ROBUST, AND USER FRIENDLY CODE THAT CAN ASSIST POLYMER SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS THAT ARE DEVELOPING NEW RESINS FOR ADVANCED AEROSPACE APPLICATIONS.
