Abstract
Adventium has created a trust-driven engineering solution that will enable assured deployment and control of million-plus scalable lightweight cybercraft to help maintain US freedom of action, and deny freedom of action to our adversaries. Our constraint-based approach reduces uncertainty by identifying robust architectures and configurations that can satisfy mission requirements for large-scale deployment of cybercraft within the limits imposed by the physical and logical configurations and capabilities of the underlying network, hosts, and applications. Our approach eliminates the catastrophic failures that can result from exceeding those underlying limits and assures timely reaction to cyber threats. Cybercraft developers and operators can use the Cybercraft Architecture Reasoner Inferring Network and Application Environments (CARINAE) throughout the cybercraft lifecycle to resolve multiple scalability limitations introduced by diversity in physical and logical network topologies, systems, and missions, by application resource loads and criticality, and by cybercraft architecture and resource requirements. CARINAE is based on a solid foundation of open-source platforms for easy integration and support. Phase II will develop and demonstrate tools to configure reliable, secure, and assured cybercraft that support deployment, positive control, cooperation, situation awareness, and mission planning needs.
