Abstract
"Aetion Technologies LLC will study the feasibility of applying its SFV decision-support technology to visualization of modeling and simulation processes. The technical and scientific merit will be assessed of applying SFV technology to build up models andobserve them being simulated, in whole or in part. This use of SFV will be evaluated by applying Generic Task methodology to analyze the information-processing requirements of specific sub-tasks, by rapid prototyping to demonstrate capability and gainfeedback, and by assessing the technical practicality of extending Aetion's existing code base to meet the needs in this area. If SFV can be successfully applied to this problem, there is a high likelihood that it can be successfully applied to a broaderrange of military and civilian simulation problems, thus providing a path for successful commercialization of the SFV technology. Aetion's technology will enable people to make better decisions, more confidently, because they will have a greaterunderstanding of the range of alternatives and the value tradeoffs. Potential commercial applications include: military planning, re-planning and simulation, civilian planning, re-planning and simulation; military and civilian engineering design; rationaldrug design (high-throughput screening in silico); and infrastructure vulnerability analysis (anti-terrorism, FEMA, targeting)."
