AbstractAgiltron proposes a new concept for room temperature infrared imaging, which has the extraordinary potential of meeting the stringent requirement for monitoring the image projectors under intense EMI interference. This real-time monitoring system can beused to maintain the calibration of multi-spectral scene projectors in the long wave, medium wave and potentially short wave IR and UV spectrums. The approach, which is fully compatible with silicon IC foundry processing, utilizes a novel combination ofsurface micromachining and optical direct read out. Our approach uniquely converts invisible imagines into visible color imagines that can be read-out by a conventional CCD camera. The detection is instant without traditional frame rate related temporallatency and is thus capable of generating a multi-spectral scene image at update rates to 400 Hz. The special design also facilitates large field of views (FOV) detection scan. Moreover, the design is simple, compact, lightweight, low power consumption,rugged, and long operating life. Prototype device will be fabricated to demonstrate functionality in Phase I. We anticipate demonstrating leading edge performance in this program.
