AbstractAgiltron will realize low-power, low-cost thermal mapping devices capable of intelligently identifying fire ignition sources in confined spaces. The thermal mapping device will rapidly identify ignition sources with integrated digital signal processing and measure precise fire location, intensity, and temperature, detect the presence of multiple sources, reject false alarms, and transmit data wirelessly to a data-logging computer for subsequent analysis and review. The thermal mapping device will employ stereoscopic IR imaging to accommodate 3-D vision and achieve accurate calculation of a fire's location. Agiltron's approach is to base the thermal mapping device based on our uncooled photomechanical MWIR imager, allowing imaging of the characteristic fire spectral bands. By building upon our innovative fire mapping results accomplished during Phase I of the program, Agiltron will produce low-cost and expendable yet high-performance TMDs in Phase II.
