Abstract
ALPHATECH proposes to develop a framework that supports building distributed applications with emphasis on information fusion. Heterogeneous components can be encapsulated so that they can inter-operate through a set of common APIs and a shared definitionof a common domain of interest. The resulting system, called the Java Trans-Knowledge Toolkit (jTKT), will build upon, extend, and will be interoperable with the existing Adaptive Sensor Fusion (ASF) architecture by incorporating Java based technologies. The jTKT system will be fully interoperable with ASF. We will extend the persistence capabilities of the combined jTKT/ASF system with: a) Support for an effective query mechanism for generic transport data b) Support for commercial relational databases c)Use of JavaSpacesT technology as a distributed persistence mechanism. Furthermore, we propose to implement the ASF publish/subscribe mechanism in terms of both JavaSpacesT and CORBA along with appropriate performance metrics to quantify system performance. In addition, jTKT will have the capability to seamlessly integrate with the Internet for data access and system control. The overall goal of this SBIR is to make the system more widely applicable by supporting multiple persistence and communicationsstrategies and to make further substantial progress toward the JBI vision.
