Not Available This proposal describes a rotating high bandwidth interface based on dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) and a holographic optical element (HOE). The interface is highly insensitive regarding axis wobbling and several radial obstructions can be present without impairing the transmitting performance. The concept allows robust transmission of high bandwidth digital data and the components proposed meet the standards of OC- 48 (SONET). The bandwidth is scalable from 2.5Gbit/s up to 100Gbit/s depending on the number of optical channels employed.
