AbstractIbis SBIR Phase I project proposes the development of advanced active vibration and acoustic control techniques, which include smart piezoelectric sensors and actuators, robust intelligent control approaches and state-of-the-art computer prototyping techn iques. Specifically, multichannel active control techniques of integrating smart sensors/actuators and robust intelligent control will be specialized, developed, and implemented to obtain effective vibration minimization in flexible/composite structures ased on the characteristic steady-state and/or transient disturbance; An advanced active control methodology will be developed for vibration mimimization in complex structures using fuzzy neural and wave-type energy field concepts; And an active structur al vibration and acoustic control prototyping system will be designed for the laboratory research and verification of the minimization of vibration and acoustic radiation based on a mixed performance index. The emphasis will focus on the exploitation of he piezoelectric techniques, robust, fuzzy-neural, and leaning control techniques, miniiaturized. signal processing, and active vibration and acoustic control practices.
