Abstract
The Army needs a suite of effective Modeling, Analysis, Simulation, and Evaluation tools for the design, development, implementation and validation of the gyrocompassing based azimuth and attitude determination modules for the FTL systems. The Phase II project is to demonstrate, test, validate, and deliver a Gyrocompass Modeling and Simulation System (GMSS) to meet the need of the Army. The GMSS comprises several software modules, including a gyrocompass system and calibration process simulator, and a system evaluation and analysis module. Each GMSS module has a Windows-based GUI as user interface for simulation components selection and parameter setting. Each of the software modules can be installed and run in one computer or in three or four different computers. A communication protocol is defined for the inter-module interfacing in the GMSS. This system architecture greatly eases the software development, testing and maintenance. And this modular system architect can be easily augmented to perform real-time or hardware-in-the-loop simulation and real-code-in-the-loop simulation. The Phase I efforts and achievements have laid a solid foundation for the Phase II project to successfully demonstrate and deliver a powerful, multi-functional, user friendly, high fidelity, flexible, and computation-effective GMSS for the FTL systems.
