Abstract
A NEW CONCEPT IS DESCRIBED IN WHICH AN ALTERNATING MAGNETIC FIELD IS USED TO INDUCE A "SWEEPING" ELECTRIC FIELD WITH ADJUSTABLE "SWEEP ANGLE" AND "FREQUENCY" FOR GEL ELECTROPHORESIS. THE EASILY ADJUSTABLE SWEEP ANGLE AND FREQUENCY ARE KNOWN TO BE KEY FACTORS IN RESOLUTION OF ELECTROPHORESIS SYSTEMS AND A CLEAR ADVANTAGE TO EXISTING SYSTEMS. IN ADDITION, THE ADJUSTABLE PARAMETERS OF THE SYSTEM WILL LEND ITSELF EASILY TO FULLY AUTOMATED ADAPTIVE GEL ELECTROPHORESIS SYSTEMS.
