Abstract
THE FEASIBILITY IN DEVELOPING A NEW PALATABLE, TOXIC AND EMETIC RED SQUILL RODENTICIDE WILL BE STUDIED. BITTER RED SQUILL MASHES AND EXTRACTS WILL BE FORTIFIED WITH A NUTRIENT AND TREATED WITH A MICROORGANISM. THIS WILL IMPROVE PALATABILITY FOR RODENTS BY DEBITTERING THE RED SQUILL, WHILE MAINTAINING HIGH TOXICITY AND EMETIC ACTIVITY. THE PREPARATIONS WILL BE ANALYZED BY HPLC FOR SCILLIROSIDE, SCILLIROSIDIN AND OTHER GLYCOSIDES AND AGLYCONES. THE PREPARATIONS WILL BE TESTED IN WILD NORWAY RATS.
