Abstract

CONTRACTOR WILL DEVELOP A NUMERICAL TECHNIQUE FOR COMPUTING THE TWODIMENSIONAL RCS OF AN ARBITRARY INFINITE CYLINDER. CYLINDER MAY BE INHOMOGENEOUS, ANISOTROPIC, ABRUPTLY DISCONTINUOUS, LOSSY, HYSTERETIC OR OTHERWISE NONLINEAR, AND TIME-VARYING. THE NUMERICAL TECHNIQUE WILL BE BASED ON A TIME-DOMAIN FINITE-DIFFERENCE ALGORITHM USING GENERALIZED NONORTHOGONAL COORDINATES. IT WILL BE ORGANIZED IN SUCH A WAY THAT EXTENSION TO THREE DIMENSIONS IS OBVIOUS AND STRAIGHT FORWARD. FREQUENCY-DOMAIN RCS RESULTS WILL BE OBTAINED FROM TIME-DOMAIN OUTPUT EITHER BY USING AN FFT OR BY DRIVING THE PROBLEM WITH CW ILLUMINATION PAST THE TIME WHEN START-UP TRANSIENTS DIE OUT.
