In Phase I, a filament winding resin was developed that had a glass transition temperature of 274 C and could be processed at ambient temperature. This resin was characterized using existing filament winding machines at a subcontractor and found to process as well as low thermal performance resins currently in production. Accordingly, the objective of this Phase II research is to demonstrate the performance of composite pressure vessels manufactured using the high temperature filament winding resins developed in Phase I. Specifically, the goals of this Phase II are to design and fabricate a representative pressure vessel to demonstrate its compatibility for current processing and performance. Performance of the filament winding resin will be determined by burst test analysis.
