Abstract
The objective of this SBIR Phase I proposal is to demonstrate the feasibility of using Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) for detecting propellant residues (exploded and unexploded) on various surfaces (emphasis on clothes initially) that support shoulder-launched rockets. Applied Spectra will work with LIBS experts at the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) and an expert on high explosives (HE) from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Critical issues related to sensitivity and precision of analysis will be addressed in the experimental program.
