Abstract

ArchieMD, Inc. proposes to develop a 3-D Multimedia Battlefield Trauma Training Kit. We propose to integrate visual 3-D computer models, video recording of the actual treatments, and an interactive virtual patient to develop a comprehensive, effective training tool for Army, Air Force, and Navy medical personnel. The proposed system should be highly effective given the nature of the visual component This system will include state of the art medically correct and realistic interactive visualization of patients at multiple levels (whole patient, organ systems, individual organs, etc.) superimposed upon video and still images of actual procedures. The superimposed internal anatomy, visualized during the procedure reinforces the identification of critical external anatomical landmarks and illustrates the proper guidance of instruments within the body. Additionally, a virtual patient will allow additional instructor led training simulation. The resultant system will include the input of subject-matter experts and be rigorously evaluated to determine its didactic value throughout the development process.
