Abstract
Heterogeneous networks are being utilized to provide the communication infrastructure needed to transport multimedia traffic and mission critical traffic. Currently, there does not exist a complete solution that enables the efficient utilization of heterogeneous environments in order to provide end-to-end security and QoS provisioning to multimedia flows and mission critical data. During Phase I, ATC successfully demonstrated the feasibility and value of a set of innovative techniques that provide security and end-to-end QoS to multimedia flows and mission critical data traversing heterogeneous networks. These techniques were collectively demonstrated in a proof-of-concept software entity referred to as EQuIP (End-to-End QoS IP Techniques for Heterogeneous Networks). EQuIP utilizes existing networks’ infrastructures and protocols to achieve security and end-to-end QoS provisioning for multimedia flows traversing heterogeneous environments. As a result, EQuIP does not require modification to existing networks and can be easily incorporated within current military and commercial networks. In Phase II effort, Architecture Technology Corporation (ATC) is implementing and demonstrating a full-scale prototype of the product.
