Abstract

NextGen Aeronautics, Inc. is pleased to submit this Phase II proposal for the development of a unique material technology and mechanical joint design that minimizes the structural weight penalty due to morphing mechanisms as well as significantly reduces the actuation energy requirement without compromising load carrying capability of a morphing aircraft. The developed technology will be directly applicable to a NextGen designed morphing aircraft, called DREAM-UAV, that provides large wing shape and size changes suitable for dramatically different flight conditions.
