Abstract
The goal of this SBIR Phase I program is to develop procedures for laboratory testing to characterize various armor materials and structures subjected to blast loading due to land explosions created by land mines and explosive devices. ArmorWorks will prepare standardized guidelines for the laboratory test methods, including specimen geometry and dimensions; specimen attachment fixtures to get standard test data. These laboratory test methods will enhance the design procedures for structures subjected to blast loading. The success of this program is to certify armor materials resistance to blast loading. Lastly, the proposal includes testing of a full-scale prototype (fabricated in Phase I option) in a future Phase II engagement.
