Abstract
We aim to build a prototype device for optical arbitrary waveform generation and use it for demonstrations of performance. The device is based on coherent accumulation and interference of spectrally shaped waveforms using low bandwidth control electronics (less than 1 GHz) to achieve wideband optical arbitrary waveform generation with time apertures of up to 50 us, complete control of optical phase and amplitude, bandwidths up to 100 GHz, and a spectral resolution as narrow as 20 kHz. This technology enables wideband agile waveform generation for communication, sensor, and surveillance applications.
