Abstract
The MATRIX oscillator was developed as a tunable wideband HPM source for use by the AFRL in threat testing. The fundamental physics of hydrogen insulation used in the MATRIX oscillator as well as the overall topology limit the voltage-frequency-Q (VFQ) product of the current system. Through the application of dual-resonant topology and revised insulation, the output of the MATRIX oscillator concept may be extended to much higher VFQ product. The development of a high VFQ product topology source will yield more compact HPM sources for any given charge voltage and frequency capability.
