Abstract
The Athena ISG/GTXtreme approach to this research and development effort is to leverage and expand on several current programs under contract with the US Navy. This will allow us to perform more work in Phase I than is normally expected and produce working prototypes to demonstrate the concepts proposed. The investigation of current and new neurophysiological sensor technologies will result in an assessment of their feasibility to be used in an integrated flight helmet sensor suite. This will be coupled with an advanced miniature, man-mountable, computer system capable of multi-channel data acquisition, processing and wireless transmission/communication of data. Preliminary algorithms for assessing subject or pilot neurophysiological state will be created for use in human centrifuge evaluations anticipated in Phase II. Finally, a prototype system will be built and demonstrated in a flight simulator.
