The women behind Teachley admit they’re not typical entrepreneurs. That’s what makes them successful; as moms and teachers, they know firsthand the hurdles facing students today and what needs to be done to help students struggling with math.

Teachley develops math apps for elementary school students, especially those who crave strong visual support. The team brings its strong cognitive psychology research to the table, and supports struggling learners by implementing that research into the design of every one of its products.

“We wanted to develop a product that didn’t add technology hurdles to the classroom,” says Teachley Co-Founder Dr. Dana Pagar. “We are focused on strategic thinking. Kids who do well in math don’t need to think of every single fact. They think flexibly. If 2 and 2 is 4, then they know that 3 and 2 is five. Those who struggle go back and count from 1. It’s the reason students in fifth grade still end up counting on their fingers. With Teachley, kids are learning to be more efficient thinkers.”

Today, Teachley products are in thousands of classrooms nationwide and Teachley apps have been downloaded millions of times. The product platform includes Teachley Operations, Teachley Fractions, and Teachley Connect, which is an app that helps teachers easily manage the apps their students are using and access data reporting and instructional resources.
