Impact & Achievement

Genesis Systems, headquartered in Florida, is redefining access to clean water with a breakthrough atmospheric water generation technology. With support from the SBIR program, the company developed WaterCube—a suite of devices that extract potable water from the air in environments ranging from homes and disaster zones to combat outposts and off-grid communities.

WaterCube systems are engineered to meet a wide range of needs. The WaterCube 10 produces 10 gallons of clean water daily for remote locations and emergency kits. The WaterCube 100 supports families or small businesses with up to 120 gallons per day. At the largest scale, the WaterCube 1000 can generate over 1,000 gallons daily for municipalities, hospitals, or military bases. Each system is available in a military-grade version with enhanced durability, built-in defenses against cyber and EMP attacks, and filtration compatible with chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats.

SBIR contracts have enabled Genesis Systems to tailor this technology to defense needs, including the development of mobile, vehicle-mounted units and compact, portable systems for disaster response. The company is also advancing secure, post-quantum encrypted systems to ensure uninterruptible water delivery. In October 2024, a WaterCube 1000 deployment to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in Florida helped the facility maintain safe water access during a hurricane, preventing a costly and high-risk neonatal evacuation.

Since 2019, Genesis Systems has secured multiple SBIR awards from the U.S. Air Force and Army to expand the capabilities of its water generation platform. These contracts supported the development of new filtration systems, advanced material integration, and quantum-secure infrastructure. A $1.25 million Air Force Direct-to-Phase II SBIR in 2024 enabled the company to prototype filtration systems for military use, while a $1.7 million Army contract in 2025 is funding the design of a self-contained mobile water generator capable of delivering 650 gallons per day.

These achievements have attracted growing investment and recognition. The company closed a $25 million Series A round in early 2025 and received major innovation awards from CES and Pepperdine’s Most Fundable Companies program. Its WaterCube deployments have spanned the continental U.S., Hawaii, Guam, Africa, Japan, and other allied nations, and its technologies have been featured by WIRED, BBC, and other major media outlets.

With over 85 patents and trade secrets and a growing footprint in both civilian and military markets, Genesis Systems is pioneering a new model for water security—one that is distributed, resilient, and independent of traditional infrastructure. Through SBIR support, the company is not just commercializing a product—it is helping to reimagine the global approach to water access in the face of rising climate, security, and supply chain risks.
